Student report: My first Zumba class!

Zumba Fitness at Logan Dance

Today I tried my first Zumba class. Being a newbie I arrived nice and early and caught the end of the 9am Hip Hop class which looked like a lot of fun, I am not sure how they managed to remember all the steps, but it looked very funky with everyone in unison!

10am rolled around and in came Jason the Zumba instructor, there were about 15 or 20 people there for the class and Jason seemed to spot all the new people straight away which was very comforting.

We got straight into the first routine and it really wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. Each song brings a new set of steps, but they were pretty easy to pick up. I had to laugh at my lack of co-ordination for a few moves and I could hear similar chuckles from others in the group as we found our arms and legs going in very different directions to Jason’s at the front of the studio.

The best thing about the class was despite how unfit I am, I was enjoying myself so much that I didn’t even noticed that I was jumping around for a whole hour.

This is definitely a fun way to get fit and the added bonus was just how lovely the other people in the class were. Even when I managed to bang into one woman, she just smiled kindly as if she may have done that once or twice herself once upon a time!

This is definitely my new Saturday morning treat; look out for the girl laughing and doing the wrongs steps and that is probably me!
