Ready to take the next step?

Try your first dance competition!

Dance competitions can bring new challenges, motivation and confidence to your dancing. Although it is taken very seriously at the top levels, it is a fun way to expand your experiences when you are starting out.

To get started mention to your teacher that you are interested and ask them to find you a partner. Partners will be suggested on a trial basis to see if you work well together. Once you are both happy the first step is Level 1, which are fun, open competitions.

Level 1 competitors can enjoy the experience without worrying about costumes. The only requirement is that you wear proper dancing shoes.

If you decide that you like the experience, you can progress from there and work towards higher levels of dance. It is best to remember that competitions should be about fun, new goals and the enjoyment for dance!

For more information talk to your dance teacher and check the competition calendar for possible dates and events.

Best of luck!

I have been dancing of some sort for over 10 years. I have always liked the idea of competition but didnt realise there were lower levels of competition like level 1. I would like to get involved in it. I thought there was only the
A-Class competition for state and national titles. I would like to try se lessons at this studio.

    • Hi Darren,

Thats right you can start at Level 1 and it is a great way to get going and see if like it. The first thing is to come in and meet us here at the studio and perhaps try a few classes and we can start to look for a few possible partners. Any of the group classes on Tuesday to Thursday are a good way for you get going and see how it might work for you.

      Cheers,
      Ian

    Hi Ian,
Thanks for that reply. It was very helpful.
My potential dance-partner and I have already made plans to come to the Logan ballroom class Tuesday next week to see how we dance together and like your class. Thank you for the invitation. We are both interested in dancing competitively, so your studio’s offers of competition at a lower levels is impressive to hear.

    Kindest Regards,
    Darren.
