Get Saucy with Salsa

Put on your dancing shoes, and gets those hips strutting with Salsa at Logan Dance.  Learn how to move with grace and confidence.  After your first class with us you will find yourself practicing your favourite moves on your way to the photocopier or shimmying your way around the kitchen!

With two levels of classes and plenty of hombres y mujeres (males & females!) to dance with you will find a class and pace that is perfect for you, no partner required!.

Salsa is a distillation of many Latin and Afro-Caribbean dances..

The French who fled from Haiti brought the Danzón or the country-dance of England/France to Cuba. This dance began to mix with the African rhumbas such as Guaguanco, Colombia and Yambú. Added to this is the Són of the Cuban people, which was a mixture of the Spanish troubadour (sonero) and the African drumbeats.  Salsa appeals to many people because you are not constrained by too many parameters, you are free to vary the basic steps and improvise your own moves.

Salsa is something for you to enjoy, it allows you to do almost anything – you just need to know the basic steps, which are relatively easy, and follow the music.  As a salsa dancer changes weight the upper body remains level and nearly unaffected by the weight changes. Caught in the middle are the hips which end up moving quite a bit giving you the saucy salsa style!

    Ian,

I am thinking about getting some dance lessons for my wife and myself for her christmas present, she is a bit shy and a self confessed leaden footed dancer and I think we would probably benefit from some private lessons. Can you give me an idea of price etc for a/a series of, private lessons?

    Many thnaks

    Tom

  • Hi Tom,

Thanks for your enquiry. Its not unusual to feel a little awkward when you first start but the best way to get past that stage is in a private lesson. Once people feel more comfortable, they then can join some of the group classes and you might even feel like continuing with the private lessons at the same time. We can arrange gift vouchers for 1 or more private lessons and as an introductory package, we can do 3 private lessons for $250, or 6 private lessons for $500. Alternatively you can also do just do an individual private lesson for $90. The prices are all for 1 hour lessons. I hope this information is of some help and hope to hear from you soon.
