Try your first dance competition!

Dance competitions can bring new challenges, motivation and confidence to your dancing. Although it is taken very seriously at the top levels, it is a fun way to expand your experiences when you are starting out.

To get started mention to your teacher that you are interested and ask them to find you a partner. Partners will be suggested on a trial basis to see if you work well together. Once you are both happy the first step is Level 1, which are fun, open competitions.

Level 1 competitors can enjoy the experience without worrying about costumes. The only requirement is that you wear proper dancing shoes.

If you decide that you like the experience, you can progress from there and work towards higher levels of dance. It is best to remember that competitions should be about fun, new goals and the enjoyment for dance!
