What is Zumba? Zumba is a fusion of Latin American and International music and  dance themes.  The routines combine fast and slow rhythms to create a one of a kind workout.  Zumba uses principles of interval and resistance training to maximise calories burned, fat burning, and total body toning.  Zumba targets areas of your body such as glutes, legs, arms, abs, and the most important muscle, your heart.

The dances are set to toe tapping, hip swiveling, arm swinging, high energy Latin music that makes you want to just get up and dance.  Zumba is easy, fun, and an excellent exercise… It is definitely a “party” atmosphere so don’t worry if you are less fit or coordinated, it is a “feel good” workout, you can dance your woes away.

Who can do Zumba? The greatest thing about Zumba is that you don’t need to know how to dance.  Anyone can do it, whether you are young, old, or anywhere in between.  A typical class will consist of a warm up session, the main routine, and a cool down.  Classes run for an hour and are designed to put fun back into fitness.  Just don’t forget to wear comfortable work out clothes, lots of water, a towel, and most of all your “party” attitude.

Where did Zumba come from? It first came to the US by creator Alberto “Beto” Perez.  Beto’s home country is Columbia, South America and that is where Zumba originated.  Beto was a fitness instructor there and one day he had forgotten his music for class. So he quickly improvised by using the Latin tapes he had in his car and combined that with some dance steps.  The rest is history.  As of May 2010, the Zumba program is being taught at over 60000 locations in 105 countries, and has changed the lives of Zumba fanatics worldwide, and 7.5 million take Zumba classes every week.

Why? Because it’s the best party around.

What are you waiting for?  Come to Logan Dance and join the “party” with your first class FREE!!
